Green Give 2023 Supports Chesapeake Restoration Workforce
Reaching this goal will enable us to [state what you will do with the fundsraised]
Help support our new initiative, Chesapeake Restoration Workforce to provide an ongoing source of personnel — in effect, a sustained, ready cadre of trained individuals — able to provide on-the-ground, last-mile services to government, for-profit, and not-for-profit organizations engaged in critical Chesapeake Bay restoration work. We ae focusing on green infrastructure maintenance, tree planting, and invasive plant species management because these are all areas where specialized skills are required to fill the unmet needs of the restoration community.
We have learned that government, nonprofits, churches and for-profit organizations all have difficulty getting the help they need to maintain GI and habitat restoration projects they have already undertaken, often at great cost. Not only are there no organized personnel resources for restoration maintenance personnel in the Chesapeake watershed area, but any entry-level personnel that do fill these jobs typically lack the soft skills (communication, work protocols, etc.) that would make them useful to hiring entities in the field over the long term. We will be providing both soft skills and technical training to returning citizens to fill this unmet need.
Your donation will help us to purchase tools and work attire (gloves, goggles, boots, etc.) for our program participants. It will also help us to continue to provide assistance with obtaining identification, driver’s education, food, clothing and meeting other client needs.
Will you consider a generous gift today to help the support our Green Initiative that will provide a career opportunity for a formerly incarcerated individual in a growing field?
We are counting on you to reach our big goal of raising $5000 during the Green Give 2023!
