50 Years of the Pearl Street Mall

Dedicated August 6, 1977, the Pearl Street Mall has been the heartbeat of downtown Boulder for five decades. . . a place where community, creativity, and local spirit come together. What began as a bold experiment in pedestrian-focused placemaking has become one of Colorado’s most beloved gathering spaces.

Starting today and all of 2026, the City of Boulder and Downtown Boulder Partnership will work closely with community partners, businesses, and residents to plan events, installations, and activations honoring this extraordinary milestone.

You can join our efforts by making a donation to support programming of the 50th Anniversary - with a community-wide celebration planned for August 6, 2027!
