Downtown Boulder Community Initiatives

Dedicated August 6, 1977, the Pearl Street Mall has been the heart of downtown Boulder for five decades, bringing together community, creativity, and local spirit. What began as a bold experiment in pedestrian-focused placemaking has become one of Colorado’s most beloved gathering spaces.

Throughout 2027, events and experiences will invite the community to honor the Mall’s history and celebrate its future. The anniversary week will feature a special Bands on the Bricks concert on August 4, a Community Dinner on August 6, and the 30th anniversary of the Pearl Street Mile, paired with a concert and celebration featuring beer, wine, margaritas and more on August 7. Together, these events will welcome residents, downtown employees and visitors of all ages to celebrate the people and experiences that have shaped the Mall over the past 50 years.

Individuals are invited to support the 50th Anniversary and will receive recognition throughout the year, along with special perks and benefits designed to deepen their connection to this milestone celebration and the community that has made the Pearl Street Mall so special.
