As we enter our fourth year of Noise Now, we think about how far we’ve come from that initial idea to our established initiative. Having focused the first few years on launching a robust program, we are now able to turn our focus more towards relationship-building: how can this program and its resources be sustained and best serve our community for years to come?
Though the past few years have not been without their challenges, we are confident that we’re on a path towards something extraordinary. We launched Noise Now in 2019 and only got to produce for a year before Covid hit and closed our doors. Like arts organizations everywhere, we quickly pivoted the program to an online format…but it was clear that our Noise Now community was suffering. With even fewer resources than before, it was hard to provide for our community partners. Now that we’re transitioning into a new world post-pandemic, we’re ready to get back out there. Get our partner organizations out there. In front of audiences. On stages. On our stage.
Here are three key Noise Now areas we’re focused on this year, and what you would support with your donation:
Noise Now has always been committed to celebrating voices that have not been historically represented on stage. Coming out of a pandemic, it’s more important than ever that folks hear from different communities about how the past two years have affected creators and communities. Amplifying these voices will not only be of benefit to them, but to all of us (including you, our audiences, and ANW as an institution). Empathy, understanding, and a recognition of each other’s humanity – that’s how we can begin to heal.
One of the main pillars of Noise Now has been creating and holding spaces for those not equitably represented on our stage. While we want to strengthen our existing relationships, we are actively committed to welcoming new artists to our space and offering our resources to them as well.
Now that we’ve built a strong foundation, it's time to expand our reach. It’s time to increase our number of community partnerships. It's time to open our doors up again to new artists. We recognize how tough the past few years have been on the creative community and how many have lost their artistic homes. We would like to offer A Noise Within as a collaborative hub, a home for all.
As our artistic climate evolves, so does Noise Now. We are constantly thinking of ways to build upon what we’ve already created. We are constantly questioning how we can be of better service to our community and what they need from us now and in the future. While the project may be housed within A Noise Within, the focus is on our community and what we can offer out. We want to share our building, our experience, our resources. As we continue into our fourth year, we center our community partners in our journey.
We hope you’ll join us in this next phase of Noise Now: the phase where we invite more community to take part in the solid foundation we’ve built, the resources we’ve collected, and the structure we’ve created for others to stand on. We are forever grateful for your generous support as we launched the program, and are immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished so far. Now, we hope you share our unbridled excitement for what comes next!
