Will give a backpack stocked with art and school supplies to a child just arriving to camp.

Will provide one family care kit containing first aid supplies and child centered activities.

Sends one family to our Family English School for one month.

Will provide arts and craft materials for all border programming for one month.

Will provide arts and crafts, school, hygience and workshop supplies for one month.

Will provide six months of monthly training sessions for volunteers on safeguarding, trafficking prevention and trauma informed practices.

Will fund an entire short term emergency response to our next domestic or international disaster.

Will fund an additional mobile schoolhouse in a second location on the US Mexico border.

The Schoolbox Project

The Schoolbox Project: Border Program is a special collaboration with Border Angels, a non-profit organization that has been providing humanitarian support to migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border for over 30 years. Volunteers, largely from the local community, under the direction of our Site Coordinator utilize a Schoolbox “Skoolie” to deliver education, art, and play activities to children to three migrant shelters throughout Tijuana. We serve approximately 150 children a week. 

Most of the children being served are refugees and asylees seeking safety from political and gang violence in Central America, but many are also children who have been deported from the United States. Program sessions also provide an opportunity to identify vulnerable children and to make critical resource referrals for children who may otherwise fall through the cracks. 

In 2020, we hope to be able to provide a uniform and stocked backpack to each student, and to continue to provide virtual and in person training to our team on the ground. 10,500 will allow us to continue to provide all of these services and more for the first 4 months of the new year.
