Mallory Mclane Ortiz Memorial Grove - Haleakala, Maui
Funds are being raised to plant a memorial grove of native Hawaiian trees and shrubs of various species.
Mallory Ortiz spent the last years of her life working with her family to further conservation efforts in Hawaii and California. She lost her well-fought battle to cancer on February 2, 2020. In her honor, her family and friends will be planting a memorial grove of native forest species on the slopes of Haleakala, at a restoration site being managed by the Skyline Conservation Initiative. Mallory loved climbing trees and spent a good deal of her childhood and adult life in natural areas, hiking, camping and enjoying nature. The grove will be a place of love, laughter and good memories of her magical spirit. The exact planting location is still being determined, but it will be an accessible site and the family would like to invite anyone to join us for a planting day in the near future.
