Raised
My name is Eric Cooper I am a native of Houston, Texas. I was born in San Francisco, CA but my formative years were spent in Texas. I currently work as a Manager in Entertainment at Universal Studios Hollywood. I’ve been working behind the scenes in Entertainment since High School and was hired out of Grad School to Universal. I’ve been in volunteerism since I was in my teens. I would feed the neighborhood kids after my mother would go grocery shopping. I’ve always found a sense of happiness when I saw others enjoying an unexpected gift or surprise.
In 2003 I was recognized by the United States Postal Service Los Angeles Post Master for my efforts in supporting and promoting black heritage in the greater Los Angeles community.
My real affinity for volunteerism really expanded when I started working at Universal. I’ve been Volunteer of year and have been afforded the opportunity to work with a great deal of charities i.e. Operation Gratitude, Operation School Bell, Shane’s Inspiration, Project Angel Food, American Lung Association, Covenant House, LA Family Housing, Downtown Women’s Center, APLA and a few others. I believe volunteerism is the rent we pay to be citizens of Earth.
I have raised nearly $10,000 ($9,946 to be exact) since 2014 for the American Lung Association’s lifesaving mission through the Fight For Air Climb. I’m also honored to spearhead the Universal Studios Climb team that has raised nearly $80,000 for the Lung Association. The 2020 Climb was promising to be the most fun, and successful one yet.
And then COVID-19 hit Los Angeles.
I continue to raise money for the Virtual Fight For Air Climb in Los Angeles. With this new COVID-19 threat, I am honored to join the 2020 group of I Wear Turquoise Ambassadors with our focused effort on research dollars to beat this pandemic and prevent future ones.
I Wear Turquoise (IWT) is an American Lung Association LUNG FORCE campaign, engaging leaders throughout Southern California.
In American Lung Association’s pursuit to ensure lung health for all, its research funding is hard at work during this outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). A recent discovery is showing great promise for a potential vaccine. Our lung helpline and website continue to be trusted sources of information and support. Reliable resources, including guidance on how to protect yourself and your family from becoming infected, are available during this unprecedented health threat. It is important that this crucial work continue. We invite you to be a part of the solution and help prevent against future pandemics TODAY.
The American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE launched five years ago, uniting women and their loved ones to stand together and fight lung cancer. Today we invite everyone to join the commitment to lung health and for clean, healthy and livable communities for all. Leaders from throughout Southern California have joined us to become IWT Ambassadors to lead the charge toward a cleaner, healthier future.
