Help Us Celebrate Giving Tuesday
Thank you for your support. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we shut the doors to our THRIFT HOUSE on March 13th , so we have not been able to generate the funds that support our programs that contribute to the well-being of the greater Austin area.
For 47 years, Assistance League of Austin has served our community by addressing a wide variety of basic needs. From Operation School Bell®, children in need receive clothing that allows them to go to school happy and proud of their appearance. From Toy Cart, hospitalized children are given books and toys that distract them from their medical difficulties. Recipients of our Scholarships receive not only tuition aid, but also a member advocate who provides support and encouragement. Young people aging out of foster care receive laptops that help them transition to the next phase of life from our Fresh Start program. Each year, Operation Wish List gives support to a selected school with an economically disadvantaged population, providing instructional items requested by the faculty. The ASK program (Assault Survivor Kits®) provides clothing and toiletries to patients who present at Dell Children’s Medical Center to receive a forensic examination following an assault. Our Outreach program allows us to address short-term special community needs. Waste Not furnishes donated goods that are not consistent with the retailing strategy of our THRIFT HOUSE to other 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
THRIFT HOUSE is the engine that drives these programs. It is our major source of revenue. We are fortunate, also, to have donors and grantors who support us with their very generous donations.
All the work of raising revenue and operating programs is done by volunteers. We have no paid staff, just a strong membership of 400 committed to making a difference in the Greater Austin community.
