Life Program - Outdoor Black Cultural Zone Support Hub for East Oaklander's
Reaching our goal of $10,000 will help cover operational costs for the launch of our meal distribution, supporting families throughout the summer that are suffering through the effects and aftermath of COVID-19.
Free Meals, Produce and Covid 19 Safety Kits
Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation & the East Oakland Black Cultural Zone Collaborative are launching a Drive Through Covid -19 Outdoor Black Cultural Zone Support Hub on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Black Cultural Zone OutdoorHub near Eastmont Mall (6955 Foothill Boulevard in Oakland, California).
Beginning June 15, 2020, we will have free and catered dinners for families, sourced from local Black and East Oakland Restaurants and Caterers. In addition, we distribute produce boxes and COVID 19 Kits for residents which will include masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer. We will also hand out a weekly summary of COVID-19 resources for residents including:
-Locations of other Food Distribution in the area (lunch options and food banks);
-COVID 19 Free Test Sites;
-Financial resources and support and other resources to support our residents as they navigate this new world where the Pandemic has so impacted their lives.
Finally, as we are an organization that celebrates Black arts, culture, place, economy and life, we will highlight local art and artists, East Oakland culture and life while supporting our local economy including businesses, entrepreneurs, artists, makers and creatives at the OutdoorHub.
By activating this public land owned by the City of Oakland we are holding a place for Black and legacy East Oakland residents -- we must end the displacement of our people and build a thriving community.
