Mentor Champions: Rising Stronger Together (Nathan Hatia)
Reaching my goal of $1K will sustain Club operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping us maintain daily meal service, member academic support, and extended care for K-8 youth whose parents are essential service workers.
Letter from Nathan Hatia
Hi friends and family!
As many of you know I have been working for the Boys & Girls Club these last couple years now. I am proud to be part of this organization especially during these tough times. Over the last couple months our organization has worked with the families in our community to help their children in their academics as well as adjusting to the quarantine.
In the wake of unprecedented times, there are Club families who are currently in need of our assistance now more than ever. To help mitigate this issue, our Clubs are doing everything possible to help those who need us most. In Ventura County alone, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley is the only Club open, with 4 of our 9 Clubs operating and providing critical childcare services to essential working families. During this time, it is important to support our community and contribute to those around us.
I’m asking you to join me and help me to meet my goal of $1,000 for our most deserving youth. Any amount helps, whether it is $10 or $100, it demonstrates that we are there for one another. We have a unique opportunity to come together and support our community and neighbors in this critical time of need. The process is fast, easy, and secure.
By supporting today, you are doing whatever it takes to meet the needs of every child who walks through our doors today, tomorrow and in the future.
Thank you for your support!
Take care and be safe!
-Nathan

BEYOND UNCERTAIN TIMES
In light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, our communities are experiencing stress, anxiety, and uncertainty.Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley is looking beyond the uncertainty and rising to the occasion. Despite the financial challenges faced by our organization due to COVID-19-related losses in revenue, we are more committed than ever to ensure Club staff, members, families, and communities have the resources and support they need to navigate through times of change.
YOUTH & FAMILIES FIRST
Our youth and families look to the Club as their second home, where they are provided individualized social emotional and academic support, enrichment activities that spark their curiosity and creativity, and the loving relationships that help them weather any life storm. We knew right away that our families, and other essential worker families in our communities were struggling amidst the pandemic to find quality childcare. In fact, during these uncertain times, our families are turning to us not just for childcare, but to support their ability to provide their children a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos, and to make sure youth have the appropriate resources so that they can continue to grow socially and academically during this time, and emerge during the time of recovery (which we know will come), even more resilient.
It is to meet that need and toward that vision of families made whole during recovery that we remain open for full-day programming at four sites for those that need us. Youth at these sites are provided a safe, nurturing environment, individualized support to access the virtual learning platforms required by their schools, emotional support by our trained staff, healthy meals and snacks, and so much more. We are working our hardest so that these youth emerge from this crisis that much stronger.
RISING STRONGER TOGETHER
Despite our resolve, BGCGCV also knows that, just as it doesn’t just take one person to make great futures happen for our youth, we need the support of our community today to ensure that we are here now, during the recovery period, and far into the future. We have been here since 2003, and it is because of our supporters that we are well-placed to provide these services now. Although we are keeping our doors open, we are looking to our community to help sustain the effort.
Please join BGCGCV's Rising Stronger Together Campaign, a $3 Million fundraising drive running now until the end of the year. Thank you to our Board of Governors for sparking this campaign to raise $1M for NOW, $1M for RECOVERY and $1M to SECURE THE FUTURE.Every year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley serves more than 4,000 registered members and nearly 1,000 each day throughout the school year.
We KNOW those numbers and more will return as our communities emerge from this pandemic. We KNOW that youth and families will require even more robust services to support them in recovery. Please join us in our fight to ensure that we will be there to provide them what they need far into the future. We will ALL Rise Stronger TOGETHER!
