Teaching Kids About Internet Safety
Safe Surfin' Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been educating and equipping both parents and children on internet safety for over 20 years. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, cybercrimes against children have increased to over 200%. With this alarming amount, we are working more diligently to make sure we reach more children and teach them how to protect themselves from online predators and recognize the dangers in front of them. We have since formed a partnership with the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), where we have developed a curriculum-based program called Cyber S.W.A.T. This innovative program empowers kids to use Safety While Accessing Technology. We need your help to get this program in front of more children in order to decrease the number of children being victimized. Due to the limits of travel and meeting face-to-face with youth groups and school facilitators, we are reaching out virtually to programs that are already impacting children in positive ways and introducing them to Cyber S.W.A.T. We are also in the development of programs and interactive tools that children can access online 24/7. These tools will include education on identifying what grooming looks like, how to react to cyberbullying, and provide action steps if they are approached by a predator online. This epidemic is worldwide. Our reach is controlled by our funding and resources. You can make a difference by supporting our efforts in educating children on internet safety and be part of the solution to help save more lives.
