Help SERRA Celebrate Giving Tuesday
SERRA has rescued 28 horses so far this year. We have 10 horses currently in our care and are asking for donations to help us with the cost of veterinary care as we rehabilitate them and prepare to rescue more horses in need.
SERRA is driven to do the work we do for the love of these horses and the help we’re asking for this GivingTuesday is your contribution towards their Veterinary expenses.
SERRA relies on our relationship with our veterinarians in the rehabilitation process of getting horses fit for their forever homes. Since we rarely know their history, it is a process to determine what each horse needs to maintain good health. This process of discovery with our vets comes at significant cost, and while SERRA is a non-profit organization, our veterinarian teams are not.
The cost of a ranch visit starts at $95 before any examination or treatment, so this is a great starting point for donations, as we know each horse we rescue will have multiple vet visits, beginning with their initial evaluation, extending to monitoring and routine care, including vaccinations and boosters.
Thankfully, our team of volunteers manage the day-to-day needs of wound care, administering medications, and more. Yet, veterinary bills are the greatest expense that we incur, with each horse having unique needs, from x-rays to chiropractic; often requiring recurring prescriptions to support their chronic ailments, such as Arthritis and Cushing's.
On average, the cost of veterinary rehabilitation costs range from $500 - $3,500 per horse, and we are seeking your support to help us continue our mission to give every horse a chance.
