Double The Magic The Princess Program Spreads To Children Battling Illness
We would like to raise $5,000 this covers costumes, care packages, activities for the children, and any additional costs of shipping, accessories etc.
"I'm never going to get to go to Disney" a child with terminal cancer said to our founder. That was the moment she knew she had to bring magic similar to Disney to her. Our foundation features volunteers that dress up as princesses and superheroes to visit children in their hospital rooms in the Greater Boston Area. We believe in the thought of brightening their day through interacting with their favorite character. Not all the children we work with are terminal. We have reached children all over the world battling illnesses such as cancer, rare syndromes, epilepsy. When we do have a child that is terminal we hope we can grant their last wish to meet their favorite character. We have done this on many occasions.
It brings all of our volunteers great joy to see the children's faces light up when their favorite character enters the room. There's no better feeling when we see a child who's been crying all morning being stuck with needles and going through chemotherapy jump up with excitement when princess Cinderella enters their hospital room. When a single mother proclaims to us that she's having trouble affording hospital bills, so she can't afford toys for her son's birthday, and we have a hero walk in with an armful of toys. Our
program also ranks high in diversity. Our Princesses such as the bayou Princess and Arabian Princess are so inspiring to young girls of various cultures. We had a child say to the bayou princess "you look just like me and my Barbie of you, you are so beautiful" to know that our princesses can represent and inspire all children is one of the greatest gifts.
The pandemic greatly impacted the way we bring magic. Although, we still believe it was our best year yet. The reason for this being we were gifted with being able to reach children all over the world. We found the light at the end of the very dark tunnel known as the year 2020. We have brought magic to so many different states all over the United States via the zoom/video call platform. We've had zoom calls with children in Nebraska, Utah, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Colorado etc. We've even had calls out of the country with children in Canada.
After each zoom call we send each child a care package filled with Play Doh, Books, Games, Crowns, Stickers, Coloring Books, Yarn hats for children who have lost their hair to chemotherapy, and even a handwritten letter from the character they zoomed with
reminding them how brave they truly are. Our Nonprofit is 100% funded by donations. We use these donations to send care packages to these children. A donation of $20 sends two care packages out. A donation of $50 sends 4-5 care packages out. We send these out every single week to the children we zoom with. As well as Christmas Gifts for little fighters during the holiday season.
Our Nonprofit has really struggled the past year with fundraising due to not being able to have events in person. While we know this is in the best interest for the safety and well being of the population, it has severely impacted our fundraising goals and strategies. Therefore, we created this page to tell you all about what we do and how you can help. Our goal is to reach children all over the world and create the smiles that are worth more than life itself. Please consider giving to our organization today to double the smiles we bring to children battling serious illnesses.
