In the early fall of 2021, Strong Arm Baking was awarded the Rush Limbaugh Great American Business Award to honor their ingenuity, perseverance, and dedication to community. The Great American Business Award comes with a $25,000 prize.
A nomination for the award was made by one of Strong Arm's customers, Mr. Mario Duque of Oxford, NC. Duque applied, without knowing of any prize, simply for fun and with hopes to recognize his favorite local business.
Strong Arm owners were amazed to learn of their winning the award, as was Mr. Duque, upon hearing of the accompanying prize!
Thomas and Julia Blaine of Strong Arm are using the prize money to start a fundraising campaign active throughout December in hopes of raising $100,000 for their local Boys & Girls Club.
"Our Boys & Girls Club is an opportunity for young people in our community to be engaged in programs that provide them the support and confidence they need. This renovation will allow us to have an engaging and fun place for all those young individuals," said DJ Jones, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina. "As an organization, we serve as a helper and partner to bring more access and opportunities for collaboration to our community. We hope that this fundraiser will allow for a newly renovated Club to serve as an extension of our community, increasing our ability to be involved in community success and longevity."
Strong Arm's planned gift is the $25,000 prize if our customers and community help us raise the additional $75,000 needed to reach our goal of $100,000 for the Granville County Boys & Girls Club. We want to see our local youth supported, nourished, and reminded of their strength and capabilities, and Boys & Girls Club has the tools and plans to make that happen.
"This gift, a hugely impactful investment from Strong Arm, aligns with our goal at the Boy & Girls Club to grow access and opportunity for our youth and have a meaningful impact on our community. Our program is for all young people, and this renovation will allow us to serve all the youth that want to be involved. We know that great futures start here, and the positive impact spreads and benefits our whole community." DJ JONES CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina.
