Caregiver Heroes - Louisiana Ramp Campaign
When we reach our $3,500 goal, we will have enough funds to build this ramp for this family. Your donations will go directly to the labor and materials for this ramp build.
Meet Mattie and Mary Lala of St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. Both sisters are living with Hurler Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that's robbing them of mobility one day at a time. Mattie, 10, struggles to climb stairs now due to hip weakness. Mary, 6, has already survived a stroke and will soon need hip surgery. Both girls are losing their ability to walk independently, and their family's home has steps they can't navigate much longer.
Through donations, we are steadily building ramps along the Gulf Coast and beyond. Ramps on average cost $2,500-$3,500, some upwards of $10,000. Through the support of the community, we are able to help all those in need. We have built or installed over 60 ramps to date, and have a growing list of those in need. At this time we are self-funded through our own fundraisers and donations from local businesses and the community. We are thankful for the community support of Keesler Federal Credit Union, Champion Dodge Jeep Ram in Gulfport, Weichert Realtors Gulf Properties (Katherine Sutton), Hancock Bank, 1st Insurance Store, and Island View Casino for being signature sponsors of our program.
