UCLA Challenge for Charity

Life is a marathon, full of obstacles. The strength you have today, was shaped by those obstacles and how you chose to push through them. 

It shapes us into who we are and who we will become. It creates the confidence to overcome and the learning mechanisms to deal with the things that don't go our way.

This year, I am grateful to be running in the LA Marathon once again, to support the Special Olympics and the Junior Achievement. 

From enriching the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities through sports, education and health, to inspiring and preparing our Youth to succeed in a global economy, these organizations take on challenges with pure determination to succeed.

In the 8th grade I had a vision to inspire and empower children through access to education and to discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. 

For me, the combination of sports (PLAY, MOVEMENT) and education (ACCESS TO INFORMATION) have taken a large role in my healing and growth as a human being. And I was lucky to have a mother who believed firmly I would have opportunities in this country as a woman.

As a female athlete and business leader, running in this years LA Marathon is meaningful to me. 

And I applaud each person who chooses to be empowered and overcome their obstacles and cross that finish line each and every time.

Anderson runs LA is organized by UCLA Anderson Challenge for Charity and Outdoor Adventure Club.  All funds raised will directly support Challenge for Charity's two core charities: Special Olympics of Southern California and Junior Achievement of Southern California.
