CYC's Season of Giving 2021
32 years ago, a small group of foster youth wrote a letter to the governor of California, kick starting their journey as advocates for youth-centered systems. Out of this letter came the birth of California Youth Connection, a leading voice for change in California’s child welfare system.
2021 brought a reprieve to the financial burdens that shutdowns created for system-impacted youth aging out during the pandemic. Our #funds4YOUth campaign culminated in a statewide day of action -- CYC members applied pressure to the California Department Social Services for them to issue direct stimulus payments to current and former foster youth. As a result, foster youth were granted financial support after having faced many obstacles which compromised their stability. This is just one example of how CYC members advocated for themselves and their peers this year.
Through grassroots organizing, youth-led trainings, legislative, policy and advocacy, CYC members have continued to transform California’s child welfare system. None of our work would be possible without the generous help of our donors. Please consider helping CYC reach our $10,000 fundraising goal during the 2021 giving season.
Your donation is an investment in youth-centered systems that directly engage current and former foster youth in legislative, policy, and practice change.
