WellBuilt Cities has been collecting and sharing groceries with neighbors in food insecure communities throughout Tampa for many years. We started in a single location and eventually adopted a mobile model to address the issues of access that so many residents throughout Tampa are facing. Over the last 7 years we have gone from one mobile market out of the bed of a pick-up truck each weekend to a refrigerated unit that sets up a beautiful free grocery market 6 days a week across 8 different neighborhoods throughout Tampa.
Over the last year we were able to share more than $700,000 dollars worth of groceries with 13,525 neighbors! Our little trailer that we equipped with refrigeration just over 5 years ago has served us well as we grew our efforts. Unfortunately, due to heavy loads and constant use, we are in serious need of a replacement unit. (BTW, the whole thing is breaking down; doors, hinges, latches, etc. The axel is just what makes the need urgent)
