A Place to Become - Granville Club Capital Campaign
Support expanded access to quality afterschool programs in Granville County by investing in A Place to Become! Granville County Unit Capital Campaign
Since 2006, BGCNCNC has provided safe places where young people can learn and grow; and worked to equip our Club members with the tools necessary to make on time grade progression, demonstrate good character and leadership skills, and live healthy lifestyles. We believe every young person deserves a GREAT FUTURE. Guided by our mission, “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens,” we work as a community partner to positively impact the lives of youth in our communities and prepare them for future success. Clubs offer young people an environment to build resiliency by developing social and emotional skills that make them ready for work and life.
Our Clubs offer facility based program instruction which is critical to the success of our mission. The COVID-19 pandemic presented BGCNCNC with a unique opportunity to meet the needs of our young people in a nontraditional way. In March 2020, our physical doors closed to Club members for seven months. While our physical doors were closed, the Club was still open. Our team pivoted to provide online summer programming, healthy meals to families, and conducted regular wellness checks on Club members and their families while trying to strategize on a way to successful reopen our Clubs to serve members in person.
Once the Clubs reopened, we quickly realized that our Granville Club was not equipped to provide certain safe, positive youth development program spaces for our members. Our Granville Club, a former tobacco warehouse, was a gift from Santa Fe Naturals. The Club is located in a prime location in close proximity to elementary schools, downtown, and offers over 20,000 sq. ft. of program space.
Our leadership team along with our Corporate Board of Directors began to dream on behalf of the youth we served about what was needed to provide enhanced safety and increase access to items necessary for implementing effective Club programming. In addition, the team gathered ideas from the community and Club members to ensure a comprehensive plan for renovation. Phase one of the Granville Club renovation project will ensure that youth who attend our program have access to world class facilities necessary to create a safe, positive learning environment. This project would transform our existing blank canvas into an out of school destination for kids and teens. The renovation would provide:
• Enhanced security for all who enter,
• Restroom Updates to meet ADA requirements for youth and adults,
• Secure Storage and Sanitation Areas,
• Art Room,
• Games Room,
• Learning Center Room,
• Small & Large Program Spaces;
• Access to technology, and much more.
The Granville County Unit renovation project came to life, with a generous investment of $500,000 from The Eirenikos Foundation! Soon after The Strong Arm Baking Company Challenge raised an additional $119,00 and exposed our campaign to over 200 NEW donors! The Goodwill Foundation also contributed an $100,000 to fund our technology and study space! We have raised $740,367! That leaves us with an additional $600,000 before we achieve our goal of $1,340,367!
You can be a part of the solution for youth and teens in our community!
Consider making a monetary investment in the Capital Campaign. We have Nine Naming Opportunities, multiple Major Gift Opportunities, and Individual Giving Opportunities as well!
We would love the opportunity to share more with you! Reach out to Claudia Hayes at (919) 690-0036 ext. 111 or cyoung@bgcncnc.com to schedule a tour and learn more about the project!
