Fundraisers

Reaching $500 on will help us award need-based scholarships to five students to participate in our program. Reaching our goal on Giving Tuesday will help us teach about and immerse students in different cultures from around the world.

Reaching $1000  will help us award need-based scholarships to 10 students to participate in our program. Reaching our goal on Giving Tuesday will help us teach about and immerse students in different cultures from around the world.

Reaching our goal will help us award need-based scholarships to students to participate in our program. Reaching our end-of-year goal will help us gift over 50 students a passport giving them a key to the world.

With your support, we aim to raise  $10,000 and impact 50 students through passports, scholarships, and educational experiences

Reaching our goal will help us award need-based scholarships to students to participate in our program. Reaching our goal will help us teach about and immerse students in different cultures from around the world. 

Can you imagine not having the opportunity to leave your country, city, or even your neighborhood? Unfortunately, stories like these are not the exception for many black and brown youth. Our founder, Sanya Weston says, "I think back to when I was growing up in Detroit and I assumed that all kids had the same opportunity as me. You see, my mother made sure that we traveled. She was the first female African American to open a travel agency in the city of Detroit. As a college student at a historically black college, I found that many of my peers lacked international experiences. If you have ever traveled abroad you know how life-changing it can be. That's why I started Young People Travel Global Edge."

Only 5% of Americans who study abroad are black.

Yet over 95% of students who study abroad believe it increases their self-confidence and opportunity.

Jordyn, 11th grade: “I think this program had a large impact on how I view social justice issues and it helped me understand it from other people’s perspectives from around the world. But the most exciting thing I learned was about virtual Learning Journeys. It taught me how to do research about countries to learn about culture, architecture, food, and tourism.”

Lindsay, 10th grade: “Young People Travel Global Edge will impact the world by giving black youth who may be unfamiliar with the world outside of theirs a platform to learn and discover new outlooks of life in other places”

Taylor, 10th grade: “YPT Global Edge will allow kids to have a new perspective on how others live in other countries and that everyone deserves to live the life that they choose. Something Young People Travel Global Edge taught me this summer is communication skills, teamwork, and learning about new experiences.”
