Documenting the Impact of Ashley's Clinic
Fund our videographer/storyteller's travel to Sierra Leone to document Ashley's Clinic, share its stories, and create footage to reach more supporters.
Due to your continuous support, the Ashley Clinic Projects is making an impact on the lives of children in parts of Kono, our small district on the border between Sierra Leone and Guinea. To date, we have treated 10,803 cases of malaria and 2417 cases of typhoid, and we have recently introduced a program to prevent bilharzia. Our simple model of treating students as soon as they show symptoms of the most common preventable diseases is “keeping the kids in school.” Graduation rates are up, and school attendance has stabilized. It is time to spread the word about our success story, and the best way to do that is through social media and maybe even a documentary!
Susan and John will be traveling to Sierra Leone in November. They have found a wonderful young film producer who will travel with them and spend time at the clinics, capturing the stories of the children, nurses, teachers, and the community. However, every dollar we currently raise for the clinics is spent on the clinics, we are looking for donations to fund this social media effort. This would be a one-time gift, separate from the regular support that keeps the clinics running. Susan and John will personally match every dollar we receive up to the first $1500. Their hope is that this film and anything that can be shared on social media will allow people to see what you and others have helped create — and perhaps inspire a whole new group of people to help us sustain and grow our model.
There is something very special happening in our little corner of Sierra Leone and we would love to capture this story and share it with the world.
