In Memory of Dean Thompson
Dean Thompson joined our board with his wife Kelly in 2016 during a transitional period for our organization, replacing their close friends Todd and Christine Lachman. Dean brought with him a big smile, a big heart, compassion, honesty, great energy, and was a great friend to trustees and staff alike.
He stepped into the role of Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee, and later as Treasurer, helping to guide our organization out of the financial instability that had nearly crippled it. With his work came new systems and processes that have helped us become an organization poised for growth and a Great Future.
We must thank Dean and his wife Kelly for embodying the truest essence of serving as trustees. Without a doubt they give, and give generously, and we thank them. Indeed, Dean engaged his firm Enterprise to support our organization, and especially our Teen program. He invited his friends to our Evening of the Stars Gala and the Golf Outing. He brought on his friend Patrick Walsh to our board, who too has become a great friend to BGCN.
But more than giving Dean showed up. At the Clubhouse, at meetings, alone in his home or office working on excel documents to review the budget, and cash flow, helping us continually improve. He invited us to his home to celebrate the holiday season . He shared his ideas humbly and listened intently as the board discussed important decisions for the future of the organization.
Thank you, Dean, for your service to the Boys & Girls Club of Newark. You were truly among the great people that make life worth living. You will be missed tremendously. We are ever in your debt for sharing the richness of your humanity!
Just a little big a love!
There goes that smile again!
Great time with friends!
