In 2022, we were able to continue and expand our mission of working with Amani residents and partners to build a better future. We believe that residents have the ideas, skills and leadership to revitalize their community, but they cannot do it alone. That’s why Dominican Center needs your continued support. We ask that you consider giving a tax-deductible charitable donation to support our mission. 

This year, we honored our founding principles while exploring new opportunities to bring residents together with our partner organizations during events. For example, we collaborated to host Pop Up Outreach days, which brought resources and free lunch to heavily traveled areas.

Here are more examples of how DC worked for the community in 2022:

Hosted 24 community meetings and 20 events connecting hundreds of residents and partner organizations in Amani, focusing on the areas of safety, housing & economic development, and education and family well-being.

We worked with AARP Wisconsin to host The Pedestrian Dignity Project, which shined a light on the safety hazards for pedestrians and individuals with disabilities. Participants discussed ways to redesign streets to increase safety and strengthen initiatives to curb reckless driving and install traffic calming planters.

Served more than 270 families with our summer Mobile Food Pantries. We partnered with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and Amani United to bring healthy food, toiletries and diapers, resources and fun to families in Amani.

Began the transition back to one-on-one in-person learning at DC, pairing tutors and students with individualized educational plans designed to help each student reach their goals on their own timeline and earn their HSED or GED.
