Join us in providing needed updates to our kindergarten school block in Mafi Gborkorfe. In 2012 Global Hope Alliance (GHA) funded the construction of the kindergarten block and hundreds of students have had a place to learn for over 10 years.  Two members of GHA, Katie & Lindsey, were able to visit the community and school this summer. The children sang for us, played, and read. It was amazing to see the joy a safe place to learn brings to the students each day. Due to years of use and impacts of weather, the structure needs several updates to the roof, furniture and more. Help us reach our goal of $9,000. Any amount can help!

We are building on 10+ year partnership with the Mafi Gborkorfe community in Ghana. Global Hope Alliance first partnered with the community members to construct a school in 2012. Seeing the community’s contributions and dedication to construction and maintenance, we returned in 2017 to work on a library project. The construction of the library was completed in early 2018. The tables were set and the shelves stocked with donated books in time for the students to begin attending school in March 2018. By the Fall of 2018, GHA was able to fundraise and support a Mafi Basic School ICT studies project, providing desktop computers to support technology lessons on real machines. A requirement for passing proficiency exams. On follow-up community visits, our partners in Ghana observed the students busy having their computer lessons at the library. Seeing the ongoing commitment of the community with our projects, we set off on partnering with the women of the community to start a business. In early 2020, our in-country business partners traveled to meet with over 35 community members (ages 25 – 45) to identify a livelihood project that would benefit themselves and their community. The community identified the batik dying and sewing project to give the women the opportunity to support themselves, their families, and their community. Through our global community, we successfully funded materials needed to start the business, and in 2023 we were able to commence construction of their future batik center on land donated by the chiefs & elders of Mafi. KEKELI HABORBOR, meaning brightness, will soon be open for business!At the meetings over the years, the chief and elders from the community were very impressed with how the women including, teenage mothers, single mothers among others, all came together. This collaborative process in partnering with the community highlights how Global Hope Alliance operates. The success of our projects are a result of empowering communities to self-select projects, identify ways to commit to completion of the work, and plan for future ongoing success. So, join us in collaborating with the Mafi community once again to update the kindergarten school block.
