Support Youth Education in Fly Fishing & Streamside Science at CFFCM!
Help us reach $10,000 in 24 hours to provide fly fishing & stream side ecology classes to kids!
The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum was founded to preserve the fly-fishing history of the Catskills and educate future generations of anglers and outdoors enthusiasts.
For the last 40 years we have brought the past, present and future of the sport into local communities. Our education efforts have touched on a range of subjects, providing everything from basic instruction to a comprehensive history of the sport, from commemorations of legendary figures to discussions about the ongoing conservation needs of our area’s streams and rivers.
But there is even more to our story! The youth of today will be the champions of tomorrow, and where better for them to learn about the importance of this culture but here at CFFCM.
Did you know?
- Anglers are a lower and lower percentage of the population, because fewer kids are joining our ranks.
- Building support for fish in the next generation of voters is every bit as important as supporting fish right now.
- Who will be voting on water resource issues in 10 years? Kids who are 8-10 years old now!
Our goal is to encourage, chaperone and educate kids on how to interact and thrive within the world of fly fishing.
Fly Fishing & Science We will be providing an introduction to both fly-fishing and streamside science. Partnering with local organizations and instructors, kids will get an opportunity to learn about these interrelated subjects at once. Our curriculum includes: - Fly Casting - Fly Tying - Streamside Safety - Fly Fishing Equipment - Keeping Our Rivers Clean
We’re giving kids a chance to step outside of their everyday routine and try something that brings them into nature, educate them on their natural surroundings and the best ways to preserve them.
