Even though the Uptown tent encampment has been removed, there are many other smaller camps around the city and we continue to serve and supply those in the county motels as well. Help us get it done and respond to requests quickly.

Hearts House for Men has been such a success and we are tapped to open two more homes like it! We'll need to get them set up, furnished, appointed and ready! You can play a huge role in welcoming someone in need home!

We have a huge housing project under way and are poised to revolutionize some things here in Charlotte. As we move closer, we will release more detailed information on the project. Contributing to this goal makes you a part of changing the future!

Hearts for the Invisible Charlotte Coalition Inc.

Hearts for the Invisible Charlotte Coalition currently has 3 main projects:

Outreach, supply and service for those that are homeless in Charlotte

 - our first long-term affordable housing offering

Hearts for the Invisible Charlotte Coalition has entered into solutions in the affordable housing space with the opening of our 

. Six men who were formerly living in tent city or were homeless reside in our units.

The Uptown tent encampment was just recently evicted due to a public health mandate. Because the mandate came down so quickly, we were fortunately engaged immediately by the County to help facilitate the process of relocating the residents. 

We were able to assist in relocating over 200 residents into county-provided shelter motels and we have been providing ongoing care and outreach for them. While so many were relocated in this manner, there were others who chose not to go into the shelters and we were there with them every step of the way as well, helping them to relocate safely to a new and secluded area where we continue to provide supplies and connect them with services as before.

At the same time, Hearts for the Invisible Charlotte Coalition has also entered into solutions in the affordable housing space with the opening of our Hearts House for Men. Six men who were formerly living in tent city or were homeless reside in our units. We are also working on a larger housing project as well.

The Hearts for the Invisible Charlotte Coalition is comprised of over 15 front-line nonprofit organizations that have joined together with a common purpose of serving and housing the homeless by assisting with the production of affordable housing here in Mecklenburg county. Founded in June of 2020, we have been on the move! 

Our coalition was formed to directly respond to the tent city, homelessness crisis and lack of affordable housing opportunity and its members have already been individually providing services within this community. Our members have all been sponsoring and assisting this vulnerable population through housing provision where possible and providing basic needs during the pandemic. 

Services we continue to provide include food, personal care and first aid supplies, community cleanup and sanitation, showers, and survival supplies such as tents, sleeping bags, clothing, and much more. We are also moving ahead in working to provide innovative solutions in sheltering, affordable housing and wrap-around services.
