Your contribution will assist in the overall mission for The Starts Within Organization by providing returning citizens with a $50 gift card for food, clothes, transportation, etc.

Your contribution will assist in the celebration of 50 juvenile youth that graduates from the Walking Logo Youth Mentorship Program. The juvenile youth commits to meeting for 14 weeks with the facilitator and once a week with their assigned mentor.

The graduation of the 52 week year long program of 20 - 25 individuals that have completed 8 weeks of parenting, 8 weeks of CBT, 8 weeks of Financial Literacy, 10 weeks of Employment Readiness, and 12 weeks of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

Newsletter for incarcerated individuals to be able to receive testimonials of ex-offenders success stories and to be a beacon of light and hope for returning back into society; that will bring awareness and encouragement for life after incarceration.

Your contribution will assist with implementing the Walking Logo Program inside a state facility which is a 5 - module course over a 52 week period offered to a group of 20 - 25 participants who are currently incarcerated.

The Starts Within Organization

In 2011, Carlos Christian founded The Starts Within Organization to reduce the recidivism rates and address the negative impacts of incarceration that hinders families and communities in Ohio, and across the Nation.

The Starts Within Organization (SWO) provides strategic programming for incarcerated men, women, their significant other, and their immediate and extended families. SWO's holistic approach aligns as a resource for currently incarcerated men, women, and juvenile youth to assist society to receive a restored individual post-incarceration.

SWO's core principles reinforce our belief that each individual must 

mission is to decrease recidivism rates by targeting incarcerated individuals through education and mentoring initiatives, making the transition from offender to ex-offender more successful.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 to fund programs that equip currently incarcerated individuals due to be released with the tools they need to thrive. This includes educational and vocational training, mentorship, case management, and job placement services. By investing in these critical areas, we empower individuals to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities, reducing the likelihood of reoffending.
