Help us recover from a burglary at Dominican Center
Dominican Center was broken into on the nights of Oct. 9 and Oct. 10. Our community space was invaded and trashed. Valuable tools used to forward our mission and help the community were stolen.
We have worked diligently to secure donations of items that help make our space more inclusive and welcoming to all ages of Amani residents. We had TVs and computers for hybrid meetings, allowing those unable to leave their home to still be involved in the conversation and have a seat at the table. We have a room for Amani teens and the Amani Youth Council, which was destroyed. Another TV stolen; craft supplies, snacks, books and papers discarded; and new Halloween costumes the group purchased to give away to children in less than two weeks are now gone. We’ve also lost seven laptops, our digital camera and decades of photos on memory cards that are irreplicable.
We’re asking for help from the community. Dominican Center has been a support in the Amani neighborhood for almost 30 years, and now we’re in need of your support. If you saw something, know something or can help in any way, please reach out. If you have or see our photo memory cards, please return them – no questions asked. If you have the means to donate and help replace some of the items lost, please do so.
Below is an incomplete list of items stolen. If you see these items circulating, please contact police. If you can donate an item, reach out to 414-444-9930. **We urgently need new Halloween costumes for our Oct. 19 event**
