I co-founded Nonprofit Wellness because in my 30-year career with world-changing staff, whether on campaigns or in schools, I found we're not very good at taking care of ourselves. Since self-care doesn't work Ty and I developed a team-care approach, backed up by brain science and culture change. Right now, we're doubling down on school staff support, to boost teacher immunity and stop educator turnover. I'm passionate about Nonprofit Wellness because, as a daily meditator, I know how important mindfulness skills are to the daily stress of life. For the past three decades I’ve worked with many indigenous, Latino, and climate grassroots efforts and seen how stressful the work can be. After leading some trainings for teachers and nonprofit staff with Susan Comfort, I became a Founding Board Member of Nonprofit Wellness to promote these skills in world-changing workplaces. Join me in raising money for the launch of this important organization. Currently we're working on developing more Spanish-language tools for teachers in D.C. and across the U.S.

Daniel Medina

For 12 years, I directed the National Public Education Support Fund, a learning community of national foundations focused on improving learning for all students in the U.S. In my personal life, I'm particularly passionate about dance, yoga, and mindfulness techniques to regulate the nervous system. Now I can combine my passions, because Nonprofit Wellness is supporting teachers (self-care) and shifting the culture of schools (team-care). Join me in launching their teacher wellness work in DC!

As the co-founder of Nonprofit Wellness, I believe that wellness is the magic potion that shifts the culture of schools. With over 15 years of experience in education, I have seen and experienced the effects of burnout which led me to this work. I have learned that preventing burnout takes a team. In response to Covid-related turnover and burnout, Nonprofit Wellness is supporting "Team-care" at local schools, and sharing free resources with educators nationwide.
