As the United Palace approaches its 100th anniversary in 2030, we’re inviting a new community of supporters to help care for this extraordinary place—starting with the space that welcomes everyone who walks through our doors.
The Grand Foyer is more than an entrance. It’s the moment people fall in love with the United Palace.
For nearly ten decades, it has greeted audiences with beauty, warmth, and a sense of possibility. It also serves as an intimate performance space for small gatherings and special events. But it’s been more than 50 years since it was last painted, and time has taken its toll. The details are still there—but the color has faded, the glow has dulled, and the space no longer reflects the magic it holds.
This project focuses on restoring the walls and architectural details of the Grand Foyer (the ceiling will be addressed separately due to its specialized needs).
We aim to raise $40,000 to cover the cost of high-quality paint and the work of a master craftsman painter—someone experienced in the careful, detailed brushwork our ornate interior requires.
Every dollar brings the Grand Foyer closer to its original splendor.
Make a gift today and become a founding member of the Centennial Crew.
Whether your contribution is modest or generous, your support matters. Every donor will:
- Be recognized as part of the Centennial Crew
- Have their name added to a commemorative donor wall
- Be invited to a special unveiling of the restored Grand Foyer in late 2026
Supporters who are able to give at higher levels may also receive behind-the-scenes experiences, private tours, or special events. A small number of donors can even underwrite one of the five paint colors needed and be recognized as a Purveyor of Paint.
If the United Palace has ever inspired you—through a performance, a gathering, or simply by standing as a beacon in Washington Heights—we hope you’ll consider making your first gift today.
Together, we can ensure the Palace is just as beautiful at 100 as it was the day it opened.
