You Have the Power to Change a Life
Wonder Afrika has been in their home for nearly 1 year. We are fundraising to finish the home's interior and septic, and to build a school and staff housing. Help Wonder Afrika reach their goals for their children.
(the above video does not reflect the current fundraising goal)
The Mission of We Are R.I.S.I.N.G. is: To strengthen the lives of orphaned and other vulnerable children and youth in Uganda by partnering with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) that educate, and meet the basic human needs of the most vulnerable children.
Wonder Afrika (formerly Guardian's Care Ministries), one of our partners in Uganda, gives home and love and hope to orphaned and abandoned children.
YOU CAN BRING HOPE TO FORGOTTEN CHILDREN!

Wonder Afrika has been educating and caring for orphans and other vulnerable children since 2011. They currently serve the most vulnerable children in the Kikyusa sub-county in Luweero District, Uganda.
Their mission is: To look after the physical and the spiritual welfare of the needy children in Uganda by providing them with basic human needs and by nurturing them with the basic principles of welfare for their own self-reliance in the future.
The Vision of Wonder Afrika is: A society of self-reliant and responsible human beings who have access to basic human needs and who contribute to the transformation of deprived communities around them.
We Are R.I.S.I.N.G. has been partnering with Wonder Afrika since early 2016. We have been partnering to help feed, house, educate, provide healthcare, pay teacher salaries, and build a well for the children of Wonder Afrika. We are now partnering in building their infrastructure.
Early 2021, Wonder Afrika was able to finalize the purchase of a 10-acre plot of land, through partnership with We Are R.I.S.I.N.G. and other of their partners. Construction on their new home for the children in their care has been completed. The interior needs completing, along with some additional furnishings. A school, staff housing, and other structures are also needed, so the children can continue their education and receive required care.
The land is already producing crops that help feed the children and provide an income at market. Animal husbandry projects are also underway! Chickens, goats,... (Pics coming soon).
Meet Lucas:
- This is 12 year old Lucas. After being abandoned by his mother when he was one - because of his deformity, he was passed from home to home until Wonder Afrika took him in. He asked to be the one to build the chicken coop and look after the chickens.
After severe neglect by his mother before he turned 1, and then illness and physical struggles (Kyphoscoliosis), and being passed from home to home seven times by people who feared his condition, 12 year old Lucas finally found his first real home - now his permanent home - with the Wonder Afrika family.
Now he is caring for the chickens - while he eagerly waits to continue his education; he wants to become a surgeon when he grows up.
*In Africa, roughly 6.4% of children under the age of 14 live with a moderate to severe disability, and fewer than 10% of those children are attending classes.
For millions of orphaned and abandoned children worldwide, the future holds continued poverty and struggle. But the children of Wonder Afrika, female or male, younger or older, no matter their strengths or giftings, whether or not they've ever been to school, whether or not they have physical, psychological, mental, or emotional challenges, they are being raised with the knowledge that they have a calling and can impact the world - near or far - for good.
We are now fundraising for furnishings and finishing touches on the interior of their home, along with other needed structures (school health clinic, staff housing) so Lucas and the other children of Wonder Afrika can have a safe and comfortable home, healthcare, and go to school. Our goal is $100,000.
