Friends of LA Animal Shelters (FLAAS)

 was founded in 2012 to bring awareness to animals in need in the Los Angeles shelter system, while simultaneously advocating to ban pet stores in California. We provided an 

 to mall executives at the former Westside Pavilion: remove your unethical tenants, and our nonprofit will bring in 

L.A. shelter pets every day until they are adopted

. And thus, L.A. Love & Leashes was born.

mission is to increase adoptions of dogs and cats still living in LA's city shelters, while minimizing the euthanasia rate

 by bringing them to our adoption "shop" in the mall each day in hopes of finding their forever homes. Our innovative program 

brings our kind, loving shelter pets to the people, 

 including so many who would not otherwise go to the shelter.

. The animals are able to decompress, relax, and socialize with other animals and potential adopters. They show their true selves. Not only do we increase their chances of adoption, we also raise awareness about the benefits of adopting shelter pets and show that these dogs and cats make wonderful family pets. 

Right now, Los Angeles is experiencing an 

unprecedented overpopulation crisis of dogs and cats, leading to the euthanasia of thousands of healthy, friendly, adoptable animals every year.

 In Los Angeles (and beyond), dogs can go weeks or even months without leaving their kennels. But at L.A. Love & Leashes, we enrich our dogs and cats' lives with multiple walks per day, companionship, structure, socialization, and give our animals a path to get out of the shelter, forever.

Our goal is to raise $75,000 to help save LA shelter dogs and cats in the greatest need.

Your support will allow us to save shelter pets who are at severe risk of euthanasia, illness, and behavioral decline. You will help provide 

 to animals when the shelter cannot. You will provide 

so that they become more adoptable. You are helping us support adopters who require extra assistance. Ultimately, your dollars 

help reduce the mass euthanasia of healthy, adoptable shelter pets in LA.
