Candyland Has Iris Melanoma and Needs Your Help
Help us with Candyland's surgery and the other two cats in our program who need the same surgery.
Update:
Candyland had surgery yesterday to have her eye removed due to cancer. She is the first of the four cats we have in our program that need eye surgeries. You can see how well she is doing in the video her foster took when she got home. Please note: if fresh surgical scars bother you, you might want to skip the video.
We so appreciate all of you who have donated to help these cats! We have raised enough to cover Candyland's surgery! Thank you!
We still have three more cats that need specialized eye surgeries. Can you help?
Can you help Candyland? She has eye cancer and needs to have her eye removed.
This sweet girl kitty was formerly a neighborhood stray, who lived off her wits and the occasional mouse and bird. When new people moved into her neighborhood, she decided that a dog kennel in their backyard would be a fine place to raise a litter of kittens. These homeowners allowed her to raise her young in their backyard (without providing her any food!), and gave away that litter of kittens. When she had yet another litter of kittens in the spring, they reached out to CRAN to see if we could assist with getting mama spayed and help with the most current batch of kittens. Mama proved to be pretty elusive and reluctant to enter a trap until we used her kittens as 'bait'. Such a good mama! Candyland was understandably traumatized by the whole process. It took her foster a long time to win her over but she did and Candyland showed herself to love belly rubs and pets. Her foster noticed one of her eyes was a reddish color and her other eye was green. She knew it was more than just colored pigment and so Candyland went to our local eye specialist. Candyland was diagnosed with diffuse iris melanoma (over 90% of her iris). She is a lucky girl that her foster was so observant.
We are hoping our community can help us by donating to cover Candyland’s surgery. She needs an enucleation, a surgery to remove her eye.
She so deserves a long life in a forever home. We want to give her the best chance by doing this surgery.
We also have two other cats who need eye enucleations (when it rains it pours) and hope to raise money to help with their surgeries as well.
