Sickle Cell Consortium
The Sickle Cell Consortium came together to harness the power of the patient voice by providing a platform to ensure that individuals with sickle cell disease and caregivers are at the center of research, education, advocacy, legislation, and policy. SCCC was established by patients and caregivers who wanted to provide services and educate the community from a first-person perspective. The Sickle Cell Consortium has spent the last four years focusing on educating, servicing needs, and helping the community in any way possible. SCCC has been proud to develop and host Warrior University, Annual Leadership Summit, Annual Warriors’ Convention, and many more projects that the community wants.
The Consortium prides itself on being a unique organization. With over 30 partner community-based organizations (CBO) and slightly under 40 independent patient and caregiver advocate (IPCA) partners, we are not only nationwide but worldwide. We have partners from all over the world that believe and implement change while honoring, “Nothing for us without us.” Education is one of the most important pillars. We provide educational content to aid warriors and caregivers in becoming expert patients. This knowledge is disseminated via Warrior University, town halls, publications, and sickle cell classroom videos to educate others in the community as well.
The Consortium is honored to provide practical services to the community. Maintaining a sense of normalcy can be a challenge for caregivers and warriors. In the last year and a half, the community has been hit very hard by the COVID pandemic. We have worked tirelessly in the effort to help families with warriors stay afloat in such tragic times.
The Consortium relies on generous donations to offer this amazing work. Without our sponsors and donors, we would not be able to provide support via the Consortium’s emergency relief fund. This program provides funding to distribute groceries, Chromebooks for education, and relief for utility shut-off notices. These donations have made a tremendous difference in so many lives. Unlike other organizations, all proceeds from donations are directly applied to the needs of the sickle cell community. Would you consider supporting our cause by making a donation today?. All donations are tax-deductible. The Sickle Cell Consortium is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
